LHS Resident Since: 12/17/10 Adoption Price: .00 (Includes refundable spay deposit) Estimated Adult Weight: 35-50 pounds Zoey was found as a stray in Clayton. She can be timid in new situations so she needs an assertive, experienced owner. She isn’t completely housebroken yet but she’s young enough to adjust to living with children and other animals. Zoey’s new owner will be required to sign a legally-binding contract to have her spayed within 30 days of adoption (as mandated by the State of Michigan, Act 287). STATE LAW REQUIRES ALL PETS ADOPTED FROM ANIMAL SHELTERS TO BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED. Non-compliance is a misdemeanor offense and you may be forced to relinquish your pet. All puppies need proper socialization and firm boundaries from their new families in order for them to grow into friendly, well-balanced family pets. If you are thinking about adopting a puppy, but have a busy lifestyle without a lot of “down time” please consider adopting a mature pet instead. Zoey is up-to-date her distemper and kennel cough vaccines. Her distemper vaccine needs to be boostered every three to four weeks until she is over four months of age to ensure immunity. She has been given monthly heartworm prevention while under our care. Her new owner will be responsible for continuing her monthly heartworm prevention and making sure her vaccines and heartworm test are updated by a veterinarian every year.
