I adopted an 8m old puppy from the pound a few months ago. A few days before she was due for her 2nd round of shots, she developed a runny nose and an occasional cough. I researched and it sounded like she had a mild case of kennel cough. I read that it could pass but mucus can linger. Her cough was gone in 2 days but she still had a snotty nose. She was fine up until a few days ago, I noticed a sore spot on her foot and then I noticed her leg started having muscle spasms. I watched her for a day and today when the spasms and limping didn’t stop, I took her to the vet. He said that he has seen a number of dogs within the past week with the same symptoms that were adopted from our pound and he was pretty sure it was distemper. He sent off bloodwork and I wont know anything for sure until Friday and then after that, depending on the results we will decide the next steps, but until then, is there anything I can do for her to make her more comfortable? She is perfectly fine, other than the constant spasms in her arm and it makes it hard for her to get comfortable and sleep. Would a heating pad help? I just want her to be comfortable during this time while we wait to find out.
No bullet jokes please, would you like for me to put a bullet in your head when you get sick?

And no, I didn’t think to ask the vet while I was trying not to cry in front of my kids getting the bad news, I was focusing more on talking with him about the disease and what we would have to do about it.

If you aren’t going to give real answers, don’t waste my time people!
Chichi, I would assume he would have told me about them, but I will call and ask tomorrow, thank you for your real response.
