I’ve had my dog for almost 2 weeks now. We got him at our local animal shelter and a few days after he came home he started sneezing, had a runny nose, and began wheezing. I took him to the vet and, as I expected, he was diagnosed with Kennel Cough. He was prescribed an antibiotic and he is doing so much better. He’s pretty much active and playful now, but when he gets too excited he still has the cough and is still coughing up some of the white foamy mucus. Starting yesterday, however, he would cough up some blood. He did it only once yesterday, but has coughed up larger amounts of thick, mucous-textured blood. I was just wondering if this was common from all the coughing or if anyone whose dog has had kennel cough experienced this symptom. I’m assuming that the cough is causing it, but I just wanted to make sure. Normally, I would have called the vet, but he’s left for the day and won’t be back until Monday. Thanks for all your help in advance!
