try triaminic thin strips. My neighbor has foster dogs/puppies who have had kennel cough and that is what she uses for them. They are really is to give to the dogs and they aren’t able to spit them out.
You can’t make him better at home, call your vet tell him you think your dog has canine cough and ask them how much it will cost, if your vet is even half way decent they should offer you a payment plan of some kind if it is to expensive
has he been in kennels recently? if so and it is kennel cough to soothe his throat you can give him childrens benylin and the childs dose. if the cough persists it would be better for the vet to see him so they can prescribe anti-biotics.
how old is he? coughs in older dogs can be associated with heart problems so might be worthwhile taking him to the vets to make sure its nothing more sinister.
First of all, how do you really know he’s got kennel cough? You can’t "guess" just because the symptoms look like kennel cough. Only a vet can do a proper diagnosis. I can’t believe you are mentionning the cost of the vet. What sort of owner would not take their dog to the vet if he/she is coughing and not sleeping at night. Get your acts together and go today. If it’s really kennel cough then it won’t cost you more than the consultation and a special syrup for dogs.
Sorry you gotta take him to the vet, he can really get worse. He needs antibiotics. Not much you can do at home, if you cant afford to take him to the vet, I reccomend the nearest shelter where they can afford a vet and find an owner that can.
