Can dogs get colds? I'm thinking my dog is under the weather. What are canine symptoms of the common cold ?

She’s lethargic and makes weird snorting sounds. She does not have Kennel cough and she is not vomitting. She is an old dog.

Your dog has developed a cough, runny eyes and nose, and is even sneezing. Sure sounds like the common cold, doesn’t it? However, dogs don’t get colds in quite the same sense as humans do. When examined more closely, most doggy colds can actually be attributed to a variety of respiratory infections caused by canine-specific viruses and bacteria.
Some of these infections simply have to run their course until your dog is well again. Others can develop into serious illnesses if allowed to progress unchecked. Let’s take a look at some of the most common illnesses that often present themselves as dog colds.
its the same thign as humans, coughs and sneezingn but since she is elderly i would take her to the vet she is more prone to illness

Dog do not get what we call colds. They do get respiratory illnesses and other illnesses that resemble human colds. Some of these can be very serious like distemper. Please get your dog to the vet esp. as she is a senior. They will probably need some meds.

Yes I have heard that dogs and cats get sick just like humans. They are also at risk of catching them through the air, and however it is else that humans catch colds.

maybe your dog is just old and tired with mucous in her throat covering her epiglottis making the uncomfortable sounds
