can a dog get kennel cough even if she has not been around other dogs?
My dog is sick – sounds like she has phlegm stuck in her throat – but that is her only symptom besides lethargy. She is eating, drinking, peeing and pooing just fine. I thought it might be because she ate some cat poo with clumping litter yesterday and it got stuck somehow? But it also sounds like it could be kennel cough. Is it possible for her to get that without being around any other dogs? She isn’t really coughing – just dealing with phlegm – especially when she tries to sniff things.
I am taking her to the vet tomorrow morning since they are closed today.

Yes it’s possible because kennel cough is an airborne virus. I would be a bit worried about the clumping litter though. Good that you are taking her to the vet.
ttmaster it’s unlikely your pup came home with the kennel cough virus, it doesn’t take as long as three weeks to see symptoms.
here are some causes of kennel cough. and they can develop it without being around other dogs. a friend of mine’s developed it and she wasnt around any other dogs at all
